For our young activists! The Aboriginal Flag — a powerful symbol of identity, resilience and connection to Country. 🖤💛❤️
Designed by Harold Thomas, a Luritja artist and activist, and first flown on July 9 1971 during a land rights rally, the flag stands for so much more than just colours.
🖤 The black represents the Aboriginal people of this land.
💛 The yellow circle represents the sun, the constant giver of life and protector.
❤️ The red represents the red earth, the red ochre used during ceremonies and the spiritual connection to Country.
This flag has flown through protests, celebrations and generations — a reminder that sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be, Aboriginal Land ✊🏽
