Title: Welcome Mat | Always Was Always Will Be

Size: 550 x 900mm

Year: 2022

When you display the phrase “Always was, Always will be” at the front of your house, you are acknowledging the Original owners of Australia. That sovereignty was never ceded and “Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land” - The phrase originated during the 1980s Aboriginal land rights movement in far-western New South Wales. The late Uncle William Bates (a legal activist) championed it. It is an important statement within First Nations communities as it reasserts that the very first footprints on this land 60,000+ years ago were those belonging to our mob. A clear declaration that we are the care takers, we are still here and we always will be. A message of survival, connection to country, resilience and celebration. These mats are suitable for mob and ally’s alike. Especially if you are on land where there are still native title disputes, negotiations or controversy over who are the Traditional owners.

What makes our Embossed Doormats so unique? Here’s some of our standout qualities:

  • We’re made of the good stuff - Ethically sourced and made from sustainable natural coconut fibres (Coir).
  • Professionally printed in Naarm (Melbourne) By Dave - Our unique Embossed print creates a richly textured, raised felt-like finish that is extremely durable and does not fade when you walk over it.
  • Stop dirt at your front door - Our durable doormats are amazing at removing dirt, mud and moisture from footwear. And will help to keep your entrance clean and protect your floors.
  • Easy to keep clean - Simply give your doormat a good shake or scrape off mud, dirt and debris with a stiff brush.

Acknowledgement:

I would like to acknowledge Gomeroi woman Rachael Mcphail from @place_names_in_addresses who started the petition and movement to add traditional place names into Australian addresses. I believe without her hard work, people would not be as likely to be learning the Traditional place name on where they live. Thank you sis
